Actress Seema Biswas: The National Award-winning actress Seema Biswas stated that it is crucial to let your work speak for itself rather than reacting to criticism. At the 10th Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival (AIFF), she was giving a masterclass. She shared (Actress Seema Biswas) her experiences and insights from her storied career in the film industry in this masterclass. Prof. Shiv Kadam moderated the session.
“I initially wanted to be an exceptional dancer, but my first experience with acting made me realize that this was my true calling,” Biswas said, looking back on her journey. I started my journey in a small village and ended up at the Oscars.
She talked about her well-known performance in Bandit Queen, saying, “I couldn’t sleep for three days after reading the script. I knew I was destined for this position. I will always remember the profound experience I had while working on this movie. After Bandit Queen, I wanted to demonstrate my versatility as a performer in addition to my status as a controversial actress. I decided to do Khamoshi for that reason.
“Authenticity is essential for every role,” Biswas counseled aspiring actors. While you can draw inspiration from your characters, you should never try to emulate them. The essence of the original performance is destroyed when it is copied. You must fully immerse yourself in the character’s life and live it around the clock when preparing for a role. Every role begins anew for me, and I give it my all in order to fully inhabit it.”
